Critical Thinking

At Dubai International academy we don’t just prepare students for the future—we inspire them to shape it. By embracing and innovating within the IB framework, we’ve created a culture of excellence, empathy, and empowerment. We are proud to lead the way, fostering students  who embody the IB’s vision in a way that is unique.

Interdisciplinary learning:

Interdisciplinary learning is at the heart of fostering connections between disciplines. At our school, we take it a step further by designing interdisciplinary projects that immerse students in real-world challenges. For example, a recent collaboration between English and Science saw students exploring the ethics and impact of artificial intelligence, synthesizing literary analysis with scientific inquiry. This approach not only deepens understanding but encourages students to see the interconnectedness of knowledge.

Critical Thinking Skills:

To truly ignite critical thinking, we integrate strategies that challenge students to evaluate, analyze, and solve complex problems. In Mathematics, for example, students tackle real-world problems through design-thinking protocols, presenting solutions to global issues such as sustainability and renewable energy. This culture of inquiry extends across all subjects, equipping students with transferable skills that transcend the classroom.

Personal Project:

Our approach to the Personal Project is where we truly stand apart. Recognizing it as the culmination of the MYP journey, we have embedded workshops on project management, mentorship, and reflective writing. Students have pursued projects ranging from developing sustainable urban gardening prototypes to coding educational apps that address learning gaps. Each project is a testament to how our school empowers students to channel their passions into tangible outcomes.

Service as Action:

Service as Action is more than a requirement at our school; it’s a cornerstone of who we are. Our students actively design and lead projects addressing local and global needs. From initiating eco-friendly community campaigns to building digital literacy programs for underprivileged groups, our students are not only participants but changemakers, living out the IB’s mission of creating a better and more peaceful world.

Assessment Variety:

When it comes to assessment, we celebrate the diversity of our learners by offering a dynamic balance of formative and summative assessments. We use tools like digital portfolios, peer reviews, and student-led conferences to empower students as active participants in their learning journey. Our teachers are not just facilitators but innovators, continuously developing assessments that are inclusive and meaningful.
