Artistic Background
I am a textile designer with an MSc in Product Management.
Prior to teaching, I used to design clothes, textiles, and the visual store-layouts for different brands across the American Continent. I also worked as a textile and pattern designer for different studios in Spain, France, Belgium, and Panama.
IB Teaching background
Life has allowed me to develop International Mindedness through various living, educational, and working experiences within nine countries, including the UAE.
After being in the Design and Product Management industry for nearly five years, I decided to pursue a career in Education. For this, I decided to pursue a master's in educational psychology.
My teaching path started within Design Universities, followed by an invitation to collaborate and work in the first IB Continuum School in Central America, in Panama.
There, I taught PYP, MYP and DP for four years. This allowed me to teach the IB curriculum in a continuum manner, knowing how to develop the skills needed to foster the IB Learner Profile in students and promote equality. Thus, I discovered the importance of the IB curriculum in developing lifelong learners.
Later, I was given the opportunity to be part of the founding staff of an IB school in China. This allowed me to develop a continuum IB curriculum within my specific subject area as well as support the school in the IB authorization process.
I currently continue to grow in the IB by teaching in DIA in my seventh year of IB teaching. I also continue to develop as an IB Examiner for DP in Visual Arts and TOK in English, Spanish and French.
Biggest achievement
Teaching, seeing how my students achieve their professional goals after graduating.
Artistically, being able to connect inclusion through the arts in multiple projects since 2012. (Ergomod and Autism4Good)
What made me dedicate life to teaching?
Seeing the impact that Art and Education have in fostering lifelong learning and international mindedness.
Why has the IB impacted me as a teacher?
The success of our students, especially when they keep in touch after going to college and let their former teachers know how far they have come.
Most meaningful experience teaching IB?
The relationships built among the IB community with teachers, students, examiners, and workshop leaders. These relationships become a huge part of the journey and shape us as humans and educators.
